Claremont CA 1st Place Edward J.J. Bowes '64 Girls Eastern States Championship - Manhattan High School Cross Country Invitational 2018

Claremont became the third California team to capture the title in the 43-year history of the Edward J.J. Bowes Girls Eastern States Championship at the 46th Manhattan Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park in New York. Freshman Maddie Coles placed sixth on the 2.5-mile course in 14:44.1 and junior Azalea Segura-Mora took seventh in 14:46.1 for Claremont, which prevailed over Liverpool NY by a 72-85 margin. Sydney Hwang, Kalinda Reynolds, Haleigh Guerrero and Angie Gushue also contributed for Claremont, which joined Palos Verdes in 1987 and Mt. Carmel in 1990 as California girls teams to win the Eastern States crown.
